If you have done one of my workshops, you'll know how much I love the way vegetable-tanned leather responds to leather dyes. The possibilities are endless! You can blend just two or three colours together and get so many beautiful shades - as many different colours as in nature itself. But like anything, it takes a lot of practice, experimentation and skill to achieve exquisite results.

If you are interested in colouring natural veg tanned leather project this workshop is a must!

Spend a day with me, creating a timeless and stunning flower accessory you can wear as a hair piece, dress up a bag, turn into a statement necklace, brooch and more! I'll show you the basics to laying out your pattern, cutting, colouring leather as well as optional variations on flower centres.

Techniques covered: S
haping the leather flower petals and leaves, how to achieve delicate graduate shading using spirit dyes, different methods for applying finishes and more.

DIMENSIONS IN LEATHER

27 JUNE 2016

Sheridan style master Akiko Okada will be flying in from Japan, award-winning crafter and tutor Peter Main from the USA; John Shortt, Custom Saddler will be making the trip up all the way from Bredbo, NSW and in latest news, Barry King, of Barry King Tools will be sharing his insights on, you guessed it, tooling leather.

2015 Dimensions in Leather Conference April 10, 2015 09:23

Dimensions in Leather

I've been busy planning the 'Dimensions in Leather" Conference with the Leathercrafters Association of Queensland Inc. to be held in Brisbane from Saturday 4 July to Sunday 12 July 2015.

This is our eleventh conference since 1994 and is the only event of its type in Australia.

Come along and enjoy six days of exciting leather workshops for beginners and experienced artisans interested in furthering their knowledge of leathercraft/art and saddlery with experts in the trade from all over the world.

The week involves more than workshops, with trade suppliers on site, evening activities and even a competition for participants.

I'll be showing you how to make your own leather tote or clutch, so make sure you don't miss out and register your attendance today because numbers are limited!

The venue is within the St. John’s College located just 5 kms from Brisbane City centre within The University of Queensland's St Lucia campus.

I look forward to seeing you!
